Care Instructions

Our care tips for long cycling enjoyment

In order to enjoy our products for as long as possible and thus protect the environment accordingly, we have summarised informative care tips here:

  •    The clothing should be re-impregnated after about 3-4 washes.
  •     Use colour detergents to keep the colours beautiful for longer
  •     Do not use too much detergent
  •     It is better to spin the products at a low spin speed.
  •     Washing on the wrong side keeps the garments looking good for longer
  •     Load the machine only 2/3 of the way through the delicate cycle.
  •     Be sure to close zips and Velcro fasteners.
  •     Pre-treat heavy stains
  •     Use a special detergent for functional textiles or a liquid mild detergent.

MORE INSTRUCTIONS:

Classic, tight-fitting GONSO cycling shorts are made from elastic and durable Lycra material. This material is quite easy to care for and therefore washing at 30°C in the washing machine is sufficient. However, please do not put the shorts in the dryer, otherwise the durability may suffer.

Wide GONSO cycling shorts can be machine washed at 30°C or dry cleaned. Although our textiles have a high durability, for example in terms of the beading effect or dirt repellency, shorts still need to be washed and cared for. You can refresh the dirt-repellent DWR finish with special sprays.

With our functional textiles, you should avoid dry cleaning as well as bleach and wash at 30°C only. Please note that all functional jackets have an industrial impregnation that ensures that the material cannot become saturated with water. However, this impregnation washes out over time. Don't worry, the jacket is still waterproof. This is ensured by the membrane and the taped seams. To refresh the beading effect, simply use a special impregnation and iron at a low temperature without steam after drying.

The label says "wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle". However, dry cleaning is also possible. Bleach should not be used. As with normal textiles, this can affect the colours. Please do not use the dryer. This is not even needed, as our shirts and jerseys dry very quickly.

Fleece items are also best washed at 30°C on the delicate cycle. If the clothes are shaken out briefly after they come out of the machine, you don't need an iron. We do not recommend ironing in general, because even at a low ironing temperature the fleece fibres become flattened and the fleece loses its cosy and insulating character until the next wash.

30°C on the delicate cycle or dry cleaning is recommended for cleaning softshells to keep them looking good for longer. As with fleece, a short shake out after washing can avoid the need for ironing later. Since most softshells have a water-repellent impregnation, this should also be refreshed from time to time.

Good and correct care is essential, especially for membranes. As a general rule, please follow the instructions on the sewn-in care label. Unless otherwise stated, wash in the washing machine with mild detergent on the delicate cycle at a maximum of 40°C. This way nothing can happen to you.

There is a special detergent for functional textiles that is gentle on the material. Otherwise, it's best to use a liquid mild detergent. This is particularly suitable for functional textiles because they leave hardly any surfactant residue and are gentler on the fabric. You should generally avoid using fabric softener with functional clothing. This impairs the breathability of the membrane or the coated textiles.

Ideally, functional textiles should be spun briefly at a low speed. If indicated on the care label, the textiles can then be dried in the dryer at a low temperature. The second option is to let them air dry. Tip: A low spin cycle can be selected here. If the textile is still wet when it is hung up, there will be fewer creases after drying.

It is easy to test when a waterproofing treatment is due: lay the textile flat on the floor and spray it with a few drops of water. If droplets form, the beading effect is still present. If the water spreads and soaks into the fabric, it is time to refresh the impregnation. We recommend impregnation with a washing additive. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for washable impregnations.
